Avonshire Limited is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2040, ten years ahead of the government target.

Executive Summary

This Carbon Reduction Plan (CRP) will cover Avonshire’s baseline year (2024) and current year (2025), setting clear targets for reducing emissions over key timeframes and planned actions to achieve Carbon Net Zero by 2040 at the latest. These will align with our obligations under the Government directives. Our aim is to ensure the highest levels of engagement with this Carbon Reduction Plan across Avonshire.

As a largely technology services business, with no permanent vehicle fleet, and shared office space, Avonshire already has a relatively small carbon footprint. These planned actions will reduce our levels of carbon production to Net Zero by 2040 at the latest, but an earlier date of Net Zero by 2035 is achievable as a stretch target.

This Carbon Reduction Plan complies with PPN 06/21 requirements. This document is reviewed and updated annually. 

Commitment to achieving Net Zero

Avonshire is committed to achieving Net Zero GHG emissions by 2040. We recognise the urgent need to rapidly decarbonise the UK industry and global emissions.

Carbon footprint methodology

The Avonshire carbon footprint methodology is based on the assumptions of our operational model being largely service-based and that our premises are controlled by a third party. Our offices are based in Bristol.

Baseline Carbon Emissions

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.

Baseline Year: 01 August 2024 – 31 July 2025

Avonshire began collecting emissions data in accordance with the Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR) requirement for our financial year ending 31 July 2025.

*Category 4 (upstream transportation and distribution) has been excluded as the data is not available.

Emissions reduction targets

We have made the commitment to be net zero by 2040. This includes emissions in scope, including gas, electricity, business travel and staff commuting. We will be net zero across our remaining scope 3 emissions, including our supply chain, transport and distribution, waste and electrical use of our leased assets by 2040. We plan to put interim targets in place to ensure sufficient progress is made and will work towards aligning with the Science Based Target Initiative in future. 

Carbon Reduction Projects

The following environmental management measures and projects have been planned:

1. Energy audit of our Bristol Office, identifying next steps to move to net zero across our scope 1 and 2 emissions
2. Reduce our natural gas and electricity usage
3. Introduce electric car scheme
4. Develop a travel plan

Declaration & Sign Off

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 06/21 and associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans. 

Emissions have been reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the GHG Reporting Protocol corporate standard and uses the appropriate Government emission conversion factors for greenhouse gas company reporting.

Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions have been reported in accordance with SECR requirements, and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions have been reported (where available) in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard. This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and signed off by the Executive Board.
